"Hey, seen the report for SC this coming weekend?"
Me: No.
"I am sick of slop."
Me: Who isn't?
"Want to go?"
Me: Well yeah...but...
"I have to ask my girlfriend..."
You ain't going any where if you have to ask your girlfriend.
When I mentioned a quick weekend trip to the wife, she threw gas money and three Vicodin at me.
See the difference?
Pig, chicken, breakfast, committed.
Last year, Mr. "Ask my girlfriend" bailed on one trip south, big mistake as it was ALL TIME.
Will he bail again? Will he sweet talk his way into a short trip to meet a predicted 12' plus at 16 seconds?
Only his tattoo artist knows for sure.
Me? My back has been fucked since last Thursday, a hard slam into the shorebreak on a stupid two foot wave has left me gimpy and walking funny.
Not the first time.
Hmmmph.
But I can medicate the shit out of it and go get pounded in SC, oh yes I can.
Because I am craving wide open faces...
Scott bailed to Rincon for the month, he took the 6'8" hull we shaped for him and I am really excited to hear the feedback.
I got the 9'2" SUP done and rode it over the weekend, I met Spike out at the spot and he rode it first. It's not a grovel board, worked great at waist high and up for me.
Spike isn't sure.
But as soon as I stick four more boxes in it...and he learns to keep it on rail...its all good.
It weighs out at 24 lbs, not bad for poly and a double bottom. I left the hotcoat unsanded on the deck, I hit it with a hammer and the hammer bounced.
One solid glass job and it looks good in yellow.
I will try to get a picture of it.
Well, off to mow some foam for my new sup, 8'10" by 29" by 4", 25" nose, 18" tail.
Yep, I am down to a fit 166 lbs.
Oh, I hit a rock in 6 inches of water with my stringerless Bing copy.
Three cracks at the front of the box. I was expecting much worse as there is no stringer, just foam and a double six capping the box.
Nice.
The board turned out to be a bit more high performance (meaning loose) than I thought. Its one hell of a section maker and it goes off the top somehow.
I was so surprised that after hitting the lip and making the air drop back in, I quickly fell off the tail in celebration.
Or something.
Anyway....
This is cool.
Humans...wild.
Way back when...I caught Blind Melon at La Luna, the last time I got to see the band.
I also had a nipple ring torn out that night when I tossed my girl from the pit up onto the stage. I didn't have a shirt on, her hair got caught in the ring....
Somehow, it turned just enough to slip out before really creating a memory...
Never put it back in.
The Albert is still swinging though.
You can tell because when it comes to a surf trip-the wife always says..."GO!"
There is a lot that you can be.
RIP Shannon.
See ya.
